Our February meeting will be held at 6:00 pm at Arts on Main on February 13th.
After a brief business meeting, colored pencil artist Ron Shepard will show us the difference between the pencils he uses and demonstrate how to get the best results from each type of pencil. Ron will also have several types of paper that can be used with the colored pencils. He’ll work with us on blending colors and show how to use substances like Turpenoid when blending.
For inspirational purposes, he will set up a display of his paintings that will show us there are different ways of creating art with colored pencils.

Western North Carolina, as well as teaching workshops and classes in the same. He taught watercolors

of the Gaston County Art Guild and has very fond memories of the friends and fellow artists that he has
met via the Guild over the years.
Mr. Shook believes that his best artistic attribute is his knowledge of colors and their application. This
knowledge has been acquired through private tutoring, extensive study of artist books and memoirs and
self experimentation and practice.
Dennis is currently painting from his personal studio and welcomes inquiries related to individual and
group classes. He is available for club, guild and gallery presentations.
Arts on Main resident artist Gary Shockley will be our guest presenter on Tuesday, December 13th for the end of the year Pot Luck celebration. He has a masterfully orchestrated method of mixing music and art to tell his stories. It will surely be a wonderful experience and a great way to end this fabulous year of art. An art journal can be a record of your daily thoughts, a travel journal, an exercise or diet diary, a dream journal, a place where you jot down your goals or to-do lists, or… well, almost any record that you’d like to keep in a book or notebook.
They become “art journals” when you add any kind of illustration or embellishment to the pages.
Artists may bring their own sketchbooks. Each participant will leave with a list of journal prompts.
