Juried Art Exhibit
The Gaston County Art Guild / Arts on Main
April 5th – May 11th, 2017
“A Natural View” will feature art that focuses on nature and may include original works of plants, animals or natural landscape native to North America. The emphasis of this exhibit is NATURE. Please restrict work to these guidelines.
All artists eighteen years and older living in Gaston, Cleveland, Lincoln, Mecklenburg and York Counties may submit up to three entries upon the payment of a non-refundable entry fee. (Guild members, $20; non-members, $30).
Entries accepted at Arts on Main:
March 31st and April 1st : 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Pick up declined artwork:
April 5th: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Reception at Arts on Main:
April 7th: 6:30 p.m. -8:30 p.m.
Awards presented at 7:00 p.m.
Show ends; Pick up work:
May 12th and May 13th: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Three works from each artist may be submitted. These may be two or three dimensional works and must have been completed within the last two years. Art must be in the original media; no copies, duplicates, prints, nor computer generated art will be accepted. Watercolors, pastels, drawings, photographs and printmaking must be protected by glass or Plexiglas, have neutral mats and be framed and wired for hanging; paintings on canvas must have no side staples and be appropriately wired for hanging. Absolutely no paintings will be hung with string or saw tooth hangers. No two dimensional entry may exceed 60” x 60” (including frame); maximum weight limit for sculpture is 200 pounds. All entries must be ready for display and available for purchase. All entries must stand for the duration of the show. Arts on Main and/or GCAG reserve the right to refuse any work that does not meet their standards & speciﬁcations.
Required for entries:
1. Entry fee of $20 for GCAG members or $30 for nonmembers
2. Identification label affixed to the hanger on back of work.
3. Identification label and inventory card typed or printed clearly.
Susan Carlisle Bell has served Gardner-Webb University as Professor of Art since 1985. Since that time, she has taught an estimated 3,000 students in art survey classes opening up the world of art appreciation to them. She has been awarded teacher of the year in Fine Arts for three different years. Her lectures in art are informed by personal museum studies in over ten different countries and over sixty American art museums.
Ms. Bell is a specialist in watercolor and continues to hone her skills in summer watercolor workshops held around the world. She has used her skill in the medium to illustrate over five publications. She has exhibited in over one hundred group and solo exhibitions winning numerous awards for paintings of landscape and portraits. Her work in watercolor and pastels is included in many church, university, and corporate collections.
Entries will be treated with care, but each individual artist retains liability for his/her work.
Awards presented by the Gaston County Art Guild will total $1000.00. The Gaston County Art Guild will retain a 30 percent commission on sales other than purchase awards
