Artist Ron Mechling
From an early age, art has been a pleasing outlet for the energies of Ron Mechling. At seven years old, he was recognized by having his drawings travel in several shows.
Throughout early childhood and adulthood, Ron has successfully experimented with a number of different mediums in creating two and three-dimensional images. His formal education in art culminated in a Fine Arts degree from the University of South Carolina with an emphasis in studio art. This experience served to expand Ron's knowledge of the art world as well as allowing him to experiment in many new and different mediums. At that time he created many pieces of sculpture and acrylic paintings.
Characteristics of unique design, high quality execution and a professional presentation encompass each piece he creates. As you examine his woodturnings, the influence of Ron’s early work in pottery is evident. Ron's skills, in finishing wood and creatively turning, have endeared him to many collectors of the items he makes.
A constant desire to move in a more creative direction helps keep Ron challenged in his thinking about and designing pieces. He hopes you will enjoy his work as much as he enjoys making it.
