Artist Phyllis Warnock

North Carolina artist Phyllis B. Warnock grew up in the town of Mt. Holly, NC. She attended Mt. Holly High School, graduating with the class of 1956. After her marriage to Edwin Warnock in 1959, they moved to Gastonia, NC and have called this home since that time.

From her studio in her home, Phyllis works in a variety of styles and mediums. She works in watercolor and acrylics but her first love is watercolor.

Artistically inclined since early childhood, Phyllis pursued a career as a nursery school teacher. She found that sharing her talents with young children was over the years most rewarding.

Not until 1981 did she become interested seriously in watercolors. With the encouragement of her instructor, nationally known watercolor artist Suzanne Brymer, Phyllis has slowly blossomed out into her own.

Her works have been sold and promoted locally by Joy Owens, owner of Things Remembered Framing and Art. Phyllis has commission works in England, Grand Cayman Islands, Atlanta, Georgia, Boca Raton, Florida, and in St. Louis, Missouri as well as in the local area.

Phyllis loves the excitement of making paintings come alive with the basic tools of her trade. That is water, a good acid free paper and transparent watercolors. She find many hours of enjoyment sitting at her easel watching a painting flow and grow to completion.

For her many talents, for her husband Ed, and for her children, Karen and Barry Hicks and Kristin and Mike Harrington, she is most thankful to God, but the loves of her life are Hannah, Claire, Rebekah, and Colin, her four wonderful grandchildren. Of course she lets them have a brush, water, paint and paper!
