Artist Joyce Netzler

Joyce grew up in the dairy country of Wisconsin with dreams of great achievements in what ever field she fancied at the time. Through the usual experiences of life; college — marriage - mother of four — teaching — caregiver, the desire to pursue the delights of watercolor painting developed .Since her retirement from teaching in Cincinnati, Ohio, she has had the opportunity to concentrate on this delightful avenue of expression.

Her paintings are done in transparent watercolor with attention given to clear, clean color. She interprets her subject in a realistic statement, often zeroing in and enlarging them, expressing the beauty abounding in nature. In nature, these beauties are short lived but through her paintings their unique colors and shapes are lasting.

She has taken workshops with several professional artists such as Don Dennis, Marilyn Phyllis, Paul Melia and Zoltan Szabo. Her paintings have received numerous awards in both local and state competitions.

It is her desire to continue to perfect her craft hoping some day to paint that “masterpiece” that fully expresses what is in her mind! And heart. And that that those who see her paintings may sense her wish to fulfill Psalms 34:3 “Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt His name together.”

ARTIST’S STATEMENT:

The use of vibrant watercolor is my preferred medium to express the beauty abounding in nature. It is a delight to see these images come to life. In nature, these beauties are short lived but through my paintings, their unique colors and shapes are lasting.
