Artist Holt Harris
With her home, family and values firmly rooted in this area, Holt A. Harris a Gaston County native, is a well known local artist and educator. She began her life long love for painting, sketching and other visual arts at an early age guided and supported by her parents Ed and Kitty Anthony. Mrs. Harris’ education also reinforced her passion for the arts and paved the career path in teaching. She is a graduate of Sacred Heart College in Belmont, where she received her degree in K -12 Art Education. She taught High School in Gaston County for 13 years. While teaching high school, she attended Winthrop University and received her Masters Degree in Secondary Education with emphasis in painting. She presently teaches at Gaston School of the arts, painting in acrylic and oils and drawing to adults. Mrs. Harris is a member of the Gaston County Art Guild and has enjoyed and participated in many shows through the years. She is best known for her colorful and abstract painting style and charcoal portraiture.
