Arts on Main resident artist Gary Shockley will be our guest presenter on Tuesday, December 13th for the end of the year Pot Luck celebration. Our guild members will be amazed as Gary tells a story using stunning images he creates in sand. Gary recently returned from presenting his show outside of North Carolina. He has a masterfully orchestrated method of mixing music and art to tell his stories. It will surely be a wonderful experience and a great way to end this fabulous year of art. Gaston County Art Guild members you should not miss this treat, mark it on your calendar to attend our final meeting of 2016. Bring a dish and find a good seat we begin at 5:30. Hope to see everyone there.

Friday night was the opening reception for A Visual Harvest @ Arts on Main. This was a Juried Art exhibit Judged by Kate Worm. A Visual Harvest runs from OCTOBER 19 to November 19.
"Judging this show was a difficult task because of the huge amount of worthy work. I enjoyed seeing the broad range of media including several colored pencil pieces reminding me of the deep colors that pencil can produce. All of the photographs were lovely and I so much enjoyed the two trilogies by the married couple. They must be on the move pursuing that perfect image every day. I think the very large abstract paintings are an important contrast to the smaller realistic pieces. I like the range of abstraction in general and I'm remembering the painting under glass with symbols floating on an ochre colored field.
Come one, come all...
The Gaston County Art Guild's annual juried art exhibition is hung and ready for viewing. There will be an Opening reception Friday, October 21 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm in the main gallery @ Arts on Main. Guests are welcome. The Awards Ceremony will begin at 7:00 pm.
We look forward to seeing you there!
